November 2012 Food Drive

(posted 11/8/12)

The Mercer County Library System will be holding a special food drive in the month of November to help replenish local food banks depleted in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The collected nonperishable food items will be distributed to the Crisis Ministry, Mercer Street Friends Food Bank of Trenton, Homefront of Lawrence, the Robbinsville Food Pantry, and “Rise – A Community Service Partnership” in Hightstown.

Anyone wishing to donate nonperishable items to this collection may do so at any of the nine branches of the Mercer County Library System, located in the municipalities of East Windsor, Ewing, Hightstown, Hopewell, Lawrence, Robbinsville, and West Windsor.

Some of the most needed items are:

Canned tuna, sardines, salmon, and chicken; fruit  in light syrup or juice; canned vegetables; rice; shelf-stable milk or Parmalat; non-sugary cereal; macaroni and cheese; and pasta.

Your generous food donations will be most appreciated by those in need!

More information on the Food Drive is available on this blog post.
